Hence, more often than not, users are not able to make informed choices.

Solution

Developing A Web Portal Which Links Up Different Assistive Technology Databases From Countries in the Asia Pacific Region

This consolidated web portal will:

• Enable a comprehensive search of Assistive Technology products in the Asia Pacific markets by having a metasearch engine focusing on  Assistive Technology products indexed in all participating databases;
• Allow comparison of product features and costs of Assistive Technology products from the different markets;
• Provide a platform for sharing of knowledge and feedback on Assistive Technology products.

Outcomes

Persons with disabilities and allied health professionals will have greater access to information and a wider range of Assistive Technology. Cost of Assistive Technology can also potentially be lowered due to more alternatives and access to other markets.
